Talk about the exam blues...I am starting to regret not being more 'mugger-ish' at the beginning or middle of the semester. I guessed too much of my time has been pre-occupied with OTOT and other dragonboat related things. But any-o-how, I know now is not the time for regrets or complains, I just have to get down to doing it! Today, I managed to get myself to complete 2 chapters of enzymes and DNA, next up will by social work. I am kind of at a loss as to how to go about studying this module as it seems rather general and yet it isn't exactly very general. Perhaps I could 'smoke' out the essay but it wouldn't have very reliable or salient points and I definitely cannot afford to roll a dice for the MCQs...So, I guess I would just have to sit down and face my social work text SERIOUSLY...before I start regretting again...
Recently, I have been feeling very breathless. The pain in my left chest just keeps coming back. I find it hard to breathe especially when I'm in an air-conditioned room. Hmm...I suspect that something must not be right with me. Should I go see a doc? But exams are here and I m lazy. Or rather, I fear that I may find out that I have some horrible disease of the lungs( considering that I've been running long distance along the roadside and breathing in all the carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxide for the past few months or wait a minute, it could even be years)! It's really sad that they do not have a nicer park near my home. I think it would be really nice if I lived near the sea, somewhere like east coast park will be good ( Heck if there's a tsunami, God will know when He wants to take me home).
ArgHHHH!!! Sometimes I like exam periods. Because they somehow offer me a certain peace, a certain ability to consolidate and focus. All you have to do is just study! But that's precisely what spoils it. Studying for long hours can really take a toil on your mind and after a mere one and a half days of mugging, i find myself zombified. At the library, I would be staring into thin air, or rather, most recently, onserving the many toddlers in the library. They can really be pretty endearing. There was this really adorable Korean girl. She was simply eating sugar out of the sugar sachet that comes with coffee or tea ( Ok, I'm sure you get what I mean). It's amazing how this free of charge commodity became a sweet snack for a little girl. Though seemingly un-interesting as compared to the huge variety of candy in all shapes colours and sizes you can get from supermarkets these days ( Candy Empire is an understatement), she seemed like she was enjoying her little, colourless sugar snack. And I was more than delighted to be playing the 'I-stare-at-you-you-stare-at-me' game with her given her huge and sweet eyes, which I suspect could have something to do witht he sugar snack in her hands. Haha..
And just today, I observed this other girl wearing an elmo shirt( believe me, I wasn't attracted to the Elmo shirt before I noticed her),lying right in the middle of nowhere on the carpeted library floor. Apparently, she decided to make herself feel at home, or maybe she thought that she WAS home?
Other than the children, there are the friendly 'men-in-black'(MIB). There are two of them. Beware. They observe your every move and leave no chair unturned and will hunt you down if you violate any of their rules. Okay. They are just library officers or library security or library childcare takers. An explanation for my evaluation of their roles. I guess their fundamental role is to ensure that everything in the library runs smoothly which means most of the time, they are VERY free. Trust me. It's a pretty good job. But I can't guarantee on the pay though. They take action when people walk through the scanner and it beeps; they tuck back the chairs at the computer table nicely after some inconsiderate user has used it (it's always the same MIB doing it and he did it for about 5 times while I was there for the past five hours); they smile and wave at the toddlers; they help lost and bawling toddlers search for their parents; and they point out to secondary school students that the computer they are using is 'strictly reserved for ADULT use'; And the amazing thing is, the students DO listen! Quite a fulfilling job indeed considering that the student had a metallic batch which said "REBEL" on it on her bag. It would make good as a post-retirement job, grandpa would love it. I think grandma would do better at the community centre teaching cooking though.
On the topic of computers....I noticed that many people, students and adults included, seem to like to use the library computer just to check on other people's Friendster profiles. Now I'm not against snooping on other people's profiles in general, but why do it in the library! Can't you just use your home computer? For all you know, the person you may be checking on may be just behind your back. Okok... I guess it's their own right to decide at the end of the day, but these people just irk me. Hahaha...okok..that's it. Back to da boooooks. Oh Horror.
