Of pigeons and men.

As we know, pigeons have this habit of flocking to where the bread crumbs or seeds or source of food lie. American shows that I've watched showed people feeding pigeons in Central Park and usually, they really flock to the person, or the central point of the food source.
Well, who would have known that this phenomenon, characteristic of survival instinct or greed for that matter, would manifest itself so uncannily in the highest order of the animal kingdom: homo sapiens, and in particular, those from the island that goes by the nickname "the little red dot". Check this out:

and a close up view..
Compare the two men in white at the centre of the upper picture with the next person in red at the centre of the above picture. While the people in the former picture were giving out freebies for a certain "Sengtil Radpeck" promotion, the person at the bottom was probably giving out freebies for the " pigeon feed" promotion. Ok. A pretty weak attempt on the analogy there but you get the point.

It has been found that there is a name for this particular behaviour in homo sapiens. It is called "kiasuismology". The symptoms are as follows:
1) Uncontrollable urge to join in a queue( or disorderly crowd) when you see one without having any idea what you are queueing for
2)Abnormally high acetylcholine release upon seeing the word "FREE" leading to increase in heart rate and blood pressure
3) Will do ANYTHING just to lay hands on the "FREE" stuff ( including breaking glass panels and pushing all remnants of pride and civility aside)

Here's an even CLOSER close-up...Look at all those hands of need ( or rather, desperate greed)...

And have a second look at this...look at the wings of need ( or rather desperate greed)..

Hmm.
Make's one think.
How far superior are humans really to their avian counterparts in kingdom animalia?

Disclaimer: the author has no intention in offending or insulting the human species or the aforementioned people of 'the little red dot' since the author herself is from 'the little red dot'. Moreover, the author has also been guilty of such an act itself, having been one of the 'hands of need' that reached out. Henceforth, the aim of this post is purely a sincere attempt by the author to give a light-hearted take on her observations of the culture of people from her homeland and promote the message that sometimes, it is good for man to laugh at himself.
