avian friends that made my day:)

Long-tailed Shrike, Lanius schach

This is the second time that I spotted this bird. The first time I saw it, it was resting on a roadside lamp post. I was totally facinated by the undulating movements of its long tail, up-down-up-down that screamed "playful"!This time however, it was resting on a signpost on a large open grass patch. It stood on the post for a few seconds, then flew down onto the grass for a while, and then flew back up. Perhaps its behaviour can be explained by the fact that it hunts from a low level(http://besgroup.talfrynature.com/2009/03/14/long-tailed-shrike-catches-a-worm/). I guess its repetitive behaviour was probably a SOP a.k.a. standard operating procedure for hunting some insect or earthworm in the grass

Scaly-breasted Munia, Lonchura punctulata

These birds were spotted flying among the bushes planted along the highway. They were spotted in pairs. The two pairs that were spotted were both chirping away however flew away when I approached.
Olive-backed Sunbird, Nectarina jugularis

Spotted several (rather noisy) pairs among the shrubs. At certain times, they were seen mid-air chasing the daylights out of each other. Some mating ritual perhaps?
